Situated in the upper Majuli and north-eastern region of the worlds famous river Island Majuli, Ujani Majuli Kherkatia College, Ratanpur Miri, was established in the year 1973. Ever since its establishment the college has fulfilled the needs of Higher Education for the people of Majuli and adjoining areas. The college bears its present existence and status after prolonged struggles and sacrifices of its teachers, employed and the continuous efforts of the local people. Starting with a very small number of students at the initial stage and facing numberless of problems, the college received Pre-Degree recognition in 1983 and degree affiliation under Dibrughar University in 1987. Finally, it was brought under Deficit Grant in Aid system in 1988.
